Santa Barbara Channel
During this month along with our always varied Marine Mammal sighting just off of our coast we had some of our more rare Black and White visitors. A small group of Killer Whales was spotted by the Marine Collectors of UCSB Campus whilst finishing up a mid-channel Blue Water Dive.
They observed a mother and juvenile being chased and harassed by what they took to be two younger males that had been following the female. These amazing Orcas spent the next 20 minutes circling the small 24ft university dive boat and occasionaly rubbed themselves up alongside the hull. When a creature thats over 20ft long itself does that it makes more than just the normal waves for sure!
More proof if we needed it that you can never tell what you'll bump into out on the water.
