Ken Burns Screening
The Channel Islands Park Foundation was well represented at the March 19, 2009 KCET sponsored preview of Ken Burns’ latest documentary about the National Parks. The documentary is slated for nationwide release on public TV this fall.
Over one thousand people attended the outdoor event that was held at the historic Santa Monica Ranch in Calabasas. As they arrived, guests were greeted by a sizable array of information booths from several of our western region National Parks. The Channel Islands booth was staffed by a National Park Ranger and two volunteer s from the Foundation. During the course of the evening several hundred guests stopped by the Channel Islands booth to pick up brochures and ask questions about our beautiful National Park. In every instance, the volunteers took the opportunity to mention the good work of the Foundation and to direct interested parties sign up for our April 15 drawing to win a free trip for two to one of the islands. Over 50 people signed up for the drawing, and while only one can win, the names will all be added to our donor file and be given a chance to support our cause.
